Names of Leaders of Myanmar Military’s Arms Factories and Their Involvement in Crimes Released

Myanmar Military’s Arms Production Factories Led by Senior Military Engineers
The senior military engineers, holding the rank of Major General, are leading the arms production factories (KPS) of the Myanmar military. These individuals, who have degrees from Yangon Industrial University and the Defense Services Technological Academy (DSTA), have been involved in various brutal crimes against civilians, including the military coup and the Rohingya genocide, according to the Tamar Institute.
The leadership of the Defense Equipment Production Office (DEPO) is composed of key figures, including
- Major General Kan Myint Than (ID 18276),
- Brigadier General Ko Ko Lwin, and
- Brigadier General Myo Aung, who oversee the operations of the Ka Pa Sa (KPS) factories.
Furthermore, several factory heads at the 25 KPS factories are also senior military officers.

- Brigadier General Myat Thu.
These individuals are reported to play significant roles in military arms production.
In addition, the KPS factories are key participants in the military’s violent oppression machinery. After the 2021 military coup, KPS soldiers became actively involved in frontline operations, territorial clearance campaigns, and security tasks. They have been implicated in serious crimes, including illegal arrests, torture, killings, the burning and destruction of villages, and the use of heavy weapons to attack civilians.
Moreover, some of the KPS factory heads have been appointed as regional military commanders, where they are responsible for security duties. KPS officials are also said to be key members of administrative bodies in regions and districts across the country.
