May 8, 2024
- Intense clashes between the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) and the junta forces continue around Tharyarkone Village in Naungcho Township. On May 8, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM, the junta forces dropped chemical bombs from the air on the battle site.
- As a result of the chemical bombs, some of our soldiers experienced dizziness and nausea.
- The junta, facing difficulties in ground battles, has increasingly relied on airstrikes and heavy artillery in their operations.
- After losing control of the Tharyarkone base, the junta carried out up to 43 airstrikes in clashes with our forces.
- Despite the junta’s heavy ground offensives and continuous artillery and air support, the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) continues to maintain full control of the Tharyarkone base in Naungcho Township.
